Wow, it looks like they fixed the problems in the Marvel Comics MM 1. Those pages of Subby look fantastic!!!

Has the material from Golden Age Marvel Masterworks V1 been remastered specially for this volume? Or will it be the same restoration as that Masterwork?

830 pages? $125 ?? A new Omnibus pricepoint indeed.
I may be tempted to pick this up IF that gawdawful brown muck from Golden Age Marvel Mystery Comics Masterworks Vol. 1 is corrected. But $125 ??? |

Even though I will not buy this one -- I love the fact that we're moving ahead with announcements for the Omnibuses!!!!!!! Thanks for that!

My policy: never buy the same material twice :-) |

Well, that is just absolutely kick-ass (even though I don't prefer huge Omnibus volumes).
I've avoided Volume 1 because of the notorious quality problems and, as a result, avoided all volumes of this series. Problem solved. Thanks, Marvel & Cory! |

If anybody clicks on the links to the images accompanying the preview page, you'll answer your own questions about the "brown muck."

The pages previewed in the links answer the question in regard to the pages previewed in the links. |

I haven't bought any of the Golden-Age Masterworks, but this one might be interesting. $125 is mighty high. I'll have to wait until it's released
to see how much of a percentage off is offered amoung various sellers. Does anyone know if any of the original comics came with a letters' page?

Interesting! I love it that new things are getting tried. Hope this one does well.

A lot of money for comics I already have... but just for this one I can justify it.
Great to see a GOOD reprint of Marvel Comics 1-4 BTW: I am very curious about the variant cover. |

VisualFiction wrote: If you're asking if Marvel is restoring only the pages previewed and using the old, brown, muddy files from the first Masterworks for the pages not previewed, well...the answer is no. Cory is restoring the first volume from scratch using the original comics, not microfiche.

A reissue of this particular material was pretty much expected for the 70th but not in this format or pricepiont. I would have snapped up any revamped BTP and
I might have dropped for the Omnbi at RRP $99 but $125 is too rich, as thats likely to be silly £ RRP in the UK.
Muu can you confirm the reason why its $125? Is this a new pricepiont or higher than normal due to the costs of producing this particular volume? |

My god. Cory, did you attend the funeral of the poor colour recon artist who did this page? I think that would have
killed me....
This looks beautiful!

This makes me so happy I listened to the concerns about volume 1 and didn't dive in and get these already. I can't wait!

This looks worth getting. I only have the first Masterworks volume and Amazon.ca carries Omniboo so the pricing will be discounted to a reasonable selling price. I'm assuming this of course based on previous initial Omniboo pricing ($ 51.00 Can. for Amazing Fantasy, $70.00 Can. Dracula, etc). I really want that Torch/ Subby book length battle. |

$125 is expensive. But I figure, with the typical online discount, the final price will be around what I would otherwise pay for these volumes as separate
Masterworks.

For those of us who just want a nice copy of MC volume 1, we will certainyl get it when the softcover comes out, right? They surely will use this touched up
versions.

Wow. I'm not a big Golden Age fan, but this is a real temptation for me, if
only to get all those early Bill Everett Sub-Mariner stories--including those from Marvel Comics #1-4, given the full Cory treatment at long last. I've got
to say, though, that the price point does give me pause. If it had been $99, it would have been an automatic purchase for me.

Urban wrote: Well, in order to restore the material in a way that the marketplace will accept (i.e., not the way GA Marvel Masterworks Vol. 1 was done), it was necessary to acquire the original comic books. Needless to say, these are among the most expensive comics to acquire. I'm guessing that's the prime reason this price point is what it is.

Wonderful choice for this 70th year, however, I share most peoples concern about the price. I see no reason to upgrade my Marvel Comics Masterworks Vol.2 &
3 and I think that I will wait for the BTP Marvel Comics Masterworks Vol.1, however long that may be in coming.
WOW !!!! I don't believe what I'm about to say, but I may pass on both of Cory's offerings this month. However, to put that in perspective I have bought everything else up until now, so maybe my pocket deserves the break.
