Phonics Monkey Vol 2 |
Marvel Masterworks Golden Age Captain America Vol. 3 |

Wow, this book is beautiful. This is my first Chinese-made Masterworks, and I am in awe. The book lays completely flat, the paper is the same as the more
recent Omniboo, the coloring is great...finally! Everything is finally perfect! No glue, no glued on dustjackets...even Aussie Stu
could not find fault with this book. Extras include some house ads.

How's the lead content?
Photoshopped color, story decompression, full-bleed panels, manga-influenced art; no wonder modern comics are so popular!

Sounds great. I've been really anxious to see the post-S&K era make into the Masterworks series, as I've not seen many of those stories. Really
looking forward to this one arriving at my door this week!

I don't have any Golden Age Masterworks, but I am SO tempted to get the Cap series, as he is my all-time favorite Marvel character and I have not read any
of his Golden Age adventures.
Glad to hear that China seems to be doing a top-notch job putting these books together... Yet another way that Americans are indebted to China! |

You're missing out, get them! And if you like them, then try All-Winners Comics for more Cap, and to sample Human Torch, Sub-Mariner, The Whizzer, and The
Destroyer. Four more great features!

Question:
I want to pick this up so much... I have the original Captain America: The Golden Years two volume slip cover. It includes issues 1 to 10. How are the GA Captain America Masterworks prints when compaired to the two volume slip cover set. I'm really intrested in getting all three volumes, but... hell, I just need to know! Thanks. |

The masterworks have far better reproduction, colors that match the originals, and no penises. Also, you get the back-up adventures of Hurricane, Tuk Caveboy,
Headline Hunter, Father Time and the Imp in addition to the Cap stories.
I personally did the update, and I'm glad I did.

As one who's see the originals, microfiche of the originals, the hardcover reprint aluded to abovethe trade reprint of that and various reprints (including the German version!) of the first issue, GO WITH THE MASTERWORKS. They're vastly better printing and complete with all backup features. The masterworks have far better reproduction, colors that match the originals, and no penises. To some that last is a negative. A. Thanks, I'm headed out today sometime to get Vol 3, I'm intrested in seeing issues 11 and 12 that are collected in this edition as i'm dying to see
Mike Sekowsky's hand at Cap. I'm glad to hear that the masterworks editions are worth the buy.

There is no Sekowsky Cap in this volume. Issue #11 has a Sekowsky/Klein FATHER TIME story and I think I detect one Sekowsky panel in the first Cap story in issue #9, page 4, I believe. Also, the Harry Fisk credit for the HEADLINER HUNTER feature in #8,9,10 should be with a questionmark. This was not a definite and after it went to print we began to question it. It can be considered the best guess at the time. The Cap credits to this volume were a lot of fun to do and when you analyze panel by panel you see many different hands. George Klein is becoming more and more evident on many stories as one of the inkers. Doc V.

I looking forward to getting my copy of GA CAP 3 (en route as I type!). I bought the 2-volume boxed set reprinting CAPTAIN AMERICA COMICS #1-10 in the early
90's, so this will be the first volume containing material I've never seen.

I just recently purchased volumes 1 and 2 (although they sent the variant for volume 2. I have it up for trade in the Swap thread) and am enjoying these much more than I have in the past. I have tried to read these stoies twice before but could not get thru them. But this time, they seem much better for some reason. Anyway, I will be buying volume 3 soon and volume 4 when it comes out. And hopefully someone wants to trade a regular one for a variant one of volume 2 (variant #99). Alan The Insane!!!

I received my copy yesterday and I'm thrilled! It is a real joy to now have the opportunity to read the first 12 issues of CAPTAIN AMERICA COMICS!
Keep'em coming Marvel!
In terms of production quality, this volume may be the best Masterwork to date. |

Mine came Monday. I'm still working on vol.2, so I haven't gotten to 3 yet, but it looks fantastic! I can't wait to read #11 and 12!!!
Also in the shipment were All-Winners vol.3 and Journey into Mystery vol.1. Read JiM #1 yesterday and loved it (great intro. Doc!) Getting ready to start on All-Winners #9 right now. Some might say the art isn't the best, but it looks great to me. Especially the Cap stories. -Eric |
