Next up, a perennial favourite; Conan and Kull for good measure to fill out the sword & sorcery quota.

Conan. It just has to be Barry Smith at his Red Nails prime. Nobody has beaten that yet. Now the writer. Roy is too old and predictable to bring anything new to the character. We need someone with a sense of history, palace intrigue, exotica and barbarism. Neil Gaiman could be interesting but I think he's too refined for sword & sorcery. I mean, we need someone who can wallow a bit in gore and bloodletting. I think we definitely need a Brit, however, for that old world vibe. Morrison? Nah, too cerebral. Jenkins? Robinson? Too suave and contemporary. Milligan? Ditto. Mike Carey? Mebbe. Andy Diggle? Hmmm
I can't decide. Azzarello just shot into my mind. He has the right sensibilities but could he give it the right archaic feel?
I'll come back to Conan. Any suggestions?

Kull. John Bolton on the art. No contest. Best sword & sorcery artist this side of Barry Smith. Kull was always a bit more metaphysical the Conan so he could do with a less earth writer but not someone too outre. I was thinking of Tim Truman even though I don't like his Conan much and that pointed me in the direction of John Ostrander. That could work. Okay.

Team Two: John Ostrander/John Bolton on Kull.

I reserve the right to change my mind about Ostrander.

Sh****t, what to do with ole Sturdy Steve Ditko?
Do I give him one of my Spidey or Doc Strange options? Hard to imagine another iconic character who fits him so well.
Doc is such a great character though, that I'm loathe to give him away so soon.
Still, Ditko needs something mystical and weird.
I'll go for a safe bet and choose Spidey.
Can't beat Ditko's Spidey.
Now, who to write?
I couldn't be bothereed straining the old brain too much. Spidey is best served by a fairly traditional writer. You can't get too crazy or daring with old webhead.
The choice is fairly obvious, although it may surprise many: Roger Stern. I can't remember anyone I liked more on Spidey than Stern. He has the same kind of sensibilities as Stan and Stan's flair for dialogue. However, his plotting is more solid and I think he adds just a tad more sophistication to the title than Stan.
So.

Team four: Roger Stern/Steve Ditko on Spiderman.

I'll go for a no-brainer.

Team six: Doug Moench/Paul Gulacyon Master of Kung-Fu.

I can't think of anything I'd prefer to see Gulacy do and nobody else can write Shang-Chi.

An interesting suggestion Todd but given your adoration of Doc. Strange I'm surprised you'd settle for someone as prosaic as Moench. I love Moench's best work in the 70s and he certainly had a bent for the metaphysical and philosophical but I think there are much more Burroughsian/Crowleyesque writers, who would serve Strange in better stead.
Grant Morrison for instance.

Steranko I can see, although his style is more pyschedelic than surreal like Ditko, which I think suits Strange's mileu better. Besides that, I would prefer to save Steranko for something more futuristic so he can make use of his design skills for sophisticated machinery and weaponry.
I think Craig Russell stradles the line between Steranko and Ditko.

Palmer on Steranko seems a bit of a waste of Palmer to me. Steranko can get by well enough with a Sinnott or Adkins.
Not that I'm saying the Steranko/Palmer team-up on Captain America #113 wasn't fantastic. It's just Palmer didn't add that much more to the brew that he usually does.
I'd just prefer to reserve Palmer for an Adams or a Colan or a Buscema, who need him more.

Anyway, my Doc Strange team supreme is - tah dah - :

Team seven: Grant Morrison/Craig Russell on Dr. Strange.

Pure magic! You know it makes sense!

Now, what the deuce, to do with Steranko!?!
