Since we're now covering the entirety of the Marvel Universe books that came out in a given month, I've decided to have the "Part" pertain
to the date these comics first hits the streets, as opposed to their cover dates. That also helps to streamline things, since as I'm sure you know there
were books with two cover dates coming out in a given month.
The order of these comics is courtesy of Joe Marek, who painstakingly plotted out all the publishing dates at http://www.angelfire.com/comics/mcg-sac/1964.html
With that said, here we go with Part 32 ... every MU comic that came out at the start of 1964! It's cool to think that you might have seen all of these together on the comics rack for the first time. This is a lot of comics for one month, so just rant about your favorites if you don't have time to talk about 'em all.
JOURNEY INTO MYSTERY #102, March ... Part two of Thor's second battle with Zarrko, who is living proof that Rogaine goes out of style in the future ...
X-MEN #4, March ... In which our merry mutants tangle with Magneto for the second time, and also get to meet his new henchmen -- Quicksilver, the Scarlet Witch (or in this case Jade), Mastermind, and the Toad! Truly a classic MU moment, and certainly required reading this month, since Uncanny X-Men #500 just hit the stands.
AVENGERS #4, March ... Speaking of classic moments, this one's a doozy. Captain America makes his awesome ice-shattering return after an absence from comics of 10 years (or of a few months if you count the Acrobat's disguise in Strange Tales #114)! Iron Man, Thor, Giant-Man, and the Wasp soon pay deference in making Winghead their leader. Meanwhile, I always wondered if the Sub-Mariner was having a bad paparazzi moment (as if there's ever a good one) in his pic on the cover ...
TALES TO ASTONISH #54, April ... Speaking of Giant-Man and the Wasp, they venture out of the country only to meet peril south of the border ...
SGT. FURY #6, March ... Speaking of non-vacations, Nick Fury and his Commandos take on the Fox during their sojourn to North Africa ...
AMAZING SPIDER-MAN #11, April ... Second battles are a common theme this month ... first Zarrko, then Magneto, and now Doctor Octopus! Part one of a great two-parter as only Stan and Steve could do it.
FANTASTIC FOUR #25, April ... For those who missed seeing the Hulk over in Avengers this month, feast your eyes on THIS one!
TALES OF SUSPENSE #52, April ... And if you're not yet bored of classic moments, here comes the Black Widow's introduction into the pantheon of Marvel characters to give Iron Man a headache ... plus the return (another second coming?) of the Crimson Dynamo!
STRANGE TALES #119, April ... Another double-hitter of stories from the Human Torch and Doctor Strange!
