Most of the Absolute books I didn't have in any format at all, books like Authority, Planetary and New Frontier come to mind. However there are some books that I had in hardcover that I sold in order to upgrade to Absolutes.
Some books warranted the upgrade such as Batman Hush but I have to admit having buyers remorse and am missing books that I sold to make the upgrade. The books that I regret selling are my Graphiti S&N Kingdom Come HC, The Complete Frank Miller Batman HC and The Long Halloween. In hindsight the original releases were pretty damned fine and possibly better than the books that I replaced them with. In the case of The Dark Knight, I hated the sequel and leatherbound Miller Batman collection was a fantastic book and filled my Miller Batman needs and The Kingdom Come HC was great as it was signed by two comic greats, it is nice to look at Alex Ross's art in the large format but it was nice having such a limited edition. The Long Halloween book does look superior to the original HC but I didn't really need to upgrade this as I have all the other Loeb/Sale books in HC and now my collection feels a bit out of place.
Has anyone else made decisions like this with their collections only to regret them later?
