The mentors are embarassing . They need current producers or performers (I consider Maria Carey too ditzy to offer guidance) like JAY-Z, The Neptunes, Mary Blige, Rick Rubin, etc.
That was a sad premonition trying to fit Amanda into the opening medley. Still, she knows who she is - the other girls (except Syesha) don't.
Ramiele should have performed "She's Leaving Home". That would showcase her big, emotive voice. Kristy Lee Cook and "The Nanny" are low-talent locals who shouldn't be in the top fifty.
Michael Johns should have performed "Oh, Darling!" Jason should be in a touring cast of "Lil' Abner".

Meanwhile, Kristy Lee played the strategy of going with the patriotic song in order to keep her in the competition another week (we'll see if it works).
I couldn't agree more. People that looked like the favorites just a couple of weeks ago have plummeted and others have moved up. Weird. Here's how I saw it: David Cook probably had the best performance of the night, but honestly, I hated the arrangement. Can't fault his performance, though. Brooke White had another outstanding performance. These two have to be considered the favorites to win, at this point. Syesha had another great night. I don't think she can beat out David or Brooke, but if she continues to improve, she could make the final 3 or 4. Michael Johns had his best night of the competition. I also figured out why I can't stand him. He sings every note with vibrato. Vibrato should be used for emphasis or else it just becomes annoying. Kristy Lee Cook had back-to-back good performances. Unfortunately, she doesn't have the talent to go much farther. Chikeze and David A. had decent performances, but nothing to write home about. 5 or 6 weeks ago, I though David A. had the competition all but won. Now I'm not even sure he'll make the final 4. As for Carly; I still think she's overrated. Good, but not great. Jason has to go. If it were up to me, he's be the next to go. He just hasn't got the vocal chops to be in this competition. He belongs in a Soho coffee shop, not a 20,000 seat concert hall. Which brings me to Ramiele. She's been a favorite of mine since the beginning, but I was appalled when she sang last nght. For the first time, she was missing notes and off-key. Then, each judge made a comment about how sick she was so now I have to chalk this up to her illness and move on. I don't think she's in any danger of leaving, but she'll need to bring her "A" game from now on if she hopes to get back in contention against David and Brooke. Picking a bottom 3 this week is a real crap shoot. But I'll try anyhow. Kristy Lee Cook - had a decent performance and will probably survive, but overall she's one of the weaker competitors. Carly Smithson - Just not as good as she and the judges think she is. Jason Castro - At this point in the competition, he's in way over his head. Chikeze could displace any one of those three but I think his likeable personality will keep him safe - for now.
