Lots of singers put together demos, etc. without a deal. It's just so much easier for artists to do this now with the technology that is available.
To be honest, his willingness to take credit for someone else's arrangement bothers me more than his self-released album. He's been consistantly getting high praise for his arrangements; now we have to wonder if he's copped them all or only just one. Obviously, all Idol cares about is selling commercial time so they'll do whatever they have to do to keep their ratings high. But it seems a bit underhanded to me to let the audience have the impression that their contestants are just "average" kids with a dream. Clearly it's intentional deception; they had ample opportunity to divulge Carly's huge recording/promotion deal with the people who produce American Idol instead of making her out to be a poor Irish immigrant with visa problems. Ditto Kristy Lee. Poor farm girl Kristy; had to sell her favorite horse to raise the cash to enter the AI competition. Why was that? Did she blow all the money she made from the album she recorded for the same people who produce AI? It's pretty clear that these people were included in the cast in order to help flagging record sales and try to recoup some of the money they lost on their initial investment. I wouldn't be a bit surprised if it was the producers idea to have them "try out", knowing all the while that they would be guaranteed at least a spot in the top 24. They've probably already recouped most of the 2.2 million they lost promoting Carly Hennessy *OOPS*, I mean Carly "Smithson!"

Syesha was absolutley phenomenal. This was the first night I thought Carly looked sexy and comfortable on stage. Even though Brooke had the false start - she also did that on Every Breath You Take - I am so tired of that stoner Jason sleepwalking through every performance I'd give him the boot.
I don't get why Syesha is always in danger. She has been the best woman performer week after week. But the teenyboppers will text away over David, David, and Jason because they are "So Cute".

I agree that Syesha had the best female performance of the week. I wasn't all that impressed with Carly, though. "Jesus Christ, Superstar" is one of my all-time favorite songs and I know the words by heart. I don't know how many people caught it, but Carly flubbed the lyrics several times, but did a fairly good job of disguising it. Brooke had a decent night. David C. had the best male performance. David A. was O.K. but not memorable, just like Simon said. Jason sucked. AGAIN. Tough picking the bottom 3 when there's only 6 left. I figure the only 2 that are safe for sure are the 2 Davids. Syesha SHOULD be safe, but you never know. If there is a God, Jason will go home tonight.

Jason will bow out at three, leaving Brooke and the Davids for the final two. Brooke then drops, giving us the David vs. David finale. At least that's how I see it going down right now.
You could be right; the only thing certain about this seasons eliminations is that nothing is certain.

I know as I was listening I wanted to put that line in as well. FOX was okay with her singing about Jesus Christ but they probably figured the word "Hell" might be offensive to some viewers. Go figure.
Back in the '70s, when I was 6 or 7, that's what I thought the lyric was too. That's how everyone in the playground sang it. But it's not. The word "hell" is nowhere in the song. The lyrics of the chorus go a little like this, thusly: Jesus Christ, Jesus Christ Who are you? What have you sacrificed? Jesus Christ Superstar Do you think you're what they say you are? Quoted from the original MCA concept album, copyright 1970.

The guy had a great voice Syesha usually sux balls but last night she was the best David Archuleta for me is just meh but i know he's super popular David Cook is 2nd best overall Jason Castro to me is (now that Mike left) probably the best one Brooke is ultra-sexy but sucks at singing-she should've gone Carly- she was always ok for me- not the best, not the worst my 2 cents...
Not trying to dis you or pick a fight, just want to illustrate how differently people view the contestants.
