The Death Duty one-shot is comic-sized or oversized, which is it?

I had a Black Widow thread on this board before but it seems to have died to the board crash a few months back, so I'm reposting.
Marvel Fanfare #10-13: Web of Intrigue (stapled) Web of Intrigue (1999 reprint one-shot, glued) Journey into Mystery #517-519: The Fire Next Time (stapled) Black Widow (vol.1) #1-3: The Itsy-Bitsy Spider (stapled Marvel Knights 3-ish LS) Black Widow (vol.2) #1-3: Breakdowns Black Widow (vol.3) #1-3: Pale Little Spider Black Widow (vol.4) #1-6: Homecoming Black Widow (vol.5) #1-6: The Things They Say About Her Additionally, I have knowledge of the following one-shots, all glued and oversized, with the possible exception of Death Duty which is probably (but not confirmed) comic-sized: The Coldest War (Conway/Freeman) Spinning Doomsday's Web (Chichester/Stroman) Abattoir (Starlin/Chiodo) Death Duty (?/?) I am now fast approaching the point where I will be binding Black Widow in the next couple of months, so if there are any solo stories anywhere else, NOW would be the time for somebody to alert me to them, please. Marvel Feature, Fanfare, Premiere, all those anthology type titles, anything in them? --

According to that, it is one of *four*, and as you'll see I've listed all four in my post.

I came across 'The Coldest War' in my collection... it's an oversized graphic novel (not comic sized), written by Gerry Conway with art by George Freeman.

I wanna say that there were some Black Widow stories in a black and white quarterly anthology Marvel did around 1996-1997. Shadows and Light, I think was the title.
But I'm not sure, just stuff I remember jumping out at me when perusing old Wizards. |

Thanks guys, that's a great catch! It looks like an actual meaningful story adding something to her origin.
Damn shame it shares an issue with so much other stuff though...maybe I should consider scan and print for this one incident. --

Or just cut that particular story out, scanning maybe the first or last page if it shares with other material, and then offer the rest of it up for anyone who might be interested in binding the rest.

Yeah, this is an interesting one. I'm kind of on the fence about it. On one hand, it solidly estabilishes Natasha's presence in WWII and is important for her continuity, but on the other hand it really isn't a Tasha story but a Wolvie/Cap one. I dunno. It's definitely one to think about.

Black Widow Death Duty | ||

Came across Black Widow Death Duty in my collection while sorting out my comics to bind and sell. It's a comic sized prestige book by Cefn Ridout and Charles Adlard. It features Fury, Black Widow, and Night Raven.
If you still want it, just mail me your address and I'll post it to you for free. |

There were some good Black Widow stories in Amazing Adventures (1970) issues 1-8 that you might want to include.

Personally I'm going to leave that era for the Masterworks to cover, but it is good that you noted them.

I dunno, I think the material is too short, and could fall thru the cracks of the Masterworks Program, along with the early Astonishing Tales material. The problem with Widow is theire is enough solo material, but not enough continuity, and chronology to make it appealing for Masterworks. Packaging AA Widow with the Marvel Fanfare stuff would be too much of a jolt.
Just get'em Samy! What's another 4 issues worth of material to save your completist's soul? |
