Quote:The Busiek/Perez Avengers was an awesome piece in Avengers history. It brought me back to the title after being away from the team for over a decade.

Quote:Bill - I thought your comment was hilarious because I was just looking at Perez' first run on Avengers during the Serpent Crown Affair and thinking "wow, Perez has evolved so much since the 70s." But seriously, you're entitled to your opinion, but IMHO I think Perez has demonstrated remarkable changes in his style while keeping his strengths. In particularl, I thought Perez displayed a fascinating array of new facial designs and body language for his characters. Each character looks completely different - Hawkeye is a bit thuggish, Wanda and Pietro look more Eastern European, and I recal Crystal having a unique face too. Anyway, I respectfully feel Perez has come a long way and is still paving a lot of great new ground as an illustrator.

Quote:I agree, conditionally: his style has evolved and improved, but I'm not convinced that he's breaking any new ground. Just improving on the ground on which he's claimed possession.

Quote:I like the Busiek run in general but the Kang Dynasty was marred by extremely poor artwork by Dwayne Turner.

Quote: I think Busiek's T-Bolts is better written but suffered from some mediocre art by Bagley and what's-his-name on inks. It's too bad Marvel hasn't fully reprinted that run.
