Nowhere near as good as the first one, but that might just be because of expectations. Nobody expected much before the first one, and now everybody expects everything from this one.

Initial thoughts: another fun movie! However, some of the humour was a bit forced and over the top. A little goes a long way, and a couple of times the silliness took me out of the movie. But when it worked, it worked.
Baby Groot is too adorable.
Mantis was good, if different from the comics. I was hoping for martial arts display, but I guess it would be a bit redundant with Gamora's (or even Nebula's) abilities.
I was surprised that Xandar & Xandarians weren't in the movie.
As with the CGI de-aging of Michael Douglas in Ant-Man, Kurt Russell's de-aging was unexpected, yet just as well done (or even better).

I'm expecting a big exposition scene in Thor 3 from the Grandmaster, similar to what the Collector did in GotG 1, but more of it.
If you want exposition in an SF film, then Jeff Goldblum is your guy (e.g. Jurassic Park, Independence Day, etc)
