Then I noticed something odd. In a later issue in the book, Superman #347, DC was missing the film and had to restore it. I saw that there were a lot of wavy lines, particularly in Superman's "S." I attributed this either to poor restoration or perhaps Garcia-Lopez had been sick when he drew that one.. Then I noticed some of this waviness in #309. Yet in the reprint, there are straight lines! Here are some close up comparisons:
It's not just this page, but through the whole issue. The wave is or was part of Garcia-Lopez's style, yet it's all been removed in the reprint. I can't imagine something so trivial was intentionally changed panel by panel by DC for this reprint, so that leaves the questions, when and why? Did they let Garcia-Lopez touch-up his work like Neal Adams did?
