Anybody here a fan of Ody-C by Matt Fraction and Christian Ward, published by Image? A little impenetrable in the beginning but basically a retelling of Homer's The Odyssey in a sci-fi setting with mostly female characters. It also is a very good looking comic but I get the impression it owes a lot to the colouring (also by Ward) which covers up some imperfections in the art. Not that he isn't a great artists but some places would look rushed and incomplete if not for the art. However the end result works similar to how well produced music can cover up for less than great musicianship. Not having read a lot of the Odyssey (other than a section in high school) I'm not sure if following the Odyssey plot similarly makes it lazy writing or not. But again the end result works. Overall it is evocative of the type of thing Jaradowsky and other European creators do with sci-Fi.
