So after lurking the forums, reading about upcoming Epics
and getting into that line, and then delving into the spectacular custom binds
I’ve seen, I decided to jump into the hobby.
I connected through Facebook with ComicBindingPro who helped me turn my
very crude home-made “Epic Collection” cover and table of contents into a
reality, then went through Houchen Bindery for the final project. This is an Omnibus-sized in Epic Trade Dress
It includes, in chronological order:
Thunderstrike #1 – 24
Thor #459, 477, and 490
What If? #107
Material from Spider-Man Unlimited #6
Material from Iron Man #303 & 304
The 4-issue Code:Blue mini-series that run as a flip to Thunderstrike #13 – 16
Then for “bonus features” I have
Marvel Age Article on the Thunderstrike series starting.
Assorted pin-ups from Thor: The Legacy, Avengers: Strikefile.
Scans from Marvel Quarterly Reports that had original art
Scans from Marvel Swimsuit Editions
Pages dedicated to trading cards and commissions that were found on the internet.
A few things I left out like “Avengers: Terminatrix
Objective” and “Thor Corps” because I have those either in digital collections
or figure they will come out at some point in Epics. This is also why I left out the Avengers
issues he appears in. I have plans for a
Quasar bind, so the issues aren’t included here. The Iron Man is included because I liked the
art/small fight they had over just a few pages.
Code Blue is in it because of them being a side character to his series,
he appears in part 3 of their story, and didn’t know where else I would ever
This is my first bind and will be the (hopeful) first in my custom epics. I have almost everything set and ready (just missing maybe 3 issues each) for Silver Sable & Wildpack, Nomad, and Sleepwalker. I have a small “Defenders of Dynatron City” simple bind sent out this morning (the colorist is signing at Phoenix Comicon in May and thought it’d be fun to get signed). I have plans for Human Fly and other random B/C list Marvel stuff to get done over the next year or two. It’s not a sprint.
I would have had this last Thursday but UPS delivered it when I wasn’t here, then took it to an access point, then actually didn’t take it there but shipped it to Vegas and I finally got it today after that screw up. Now it sits on my shelf with my Epic Collection as a welcome addition.
