My ~20 year old flatbed scanner is getting more and more temperamental. There are also no OSX drivers for it (weird, I know), so it is the sole reason that I have kept a big, bulky Mac OS 9 desktop machine. It is time to replace the scanner with something from the current century.
I need a flatbed scanner that is compatible with my MacBook Pro laptop running El Capitan (but will move up to Sierra once my workplace is Sierra compatible), a big plus would be for the machine to be compatible with my Apple wireless network. My current scanner has an 8.5" x 14" scannable surface and I would like the new machine to have that as well. My old scanner also allows me to detach the lid. This makes it easier to scan the covers of bulky items (tpb's and hc's) for places like ComicBase/Atomic Avenue.
I need a new printer as well, and I will certainly get one that scans documents. But I am doubtful that a printer/scanner will have the scanbed size I am used to or be as accommodating for scanning bulky items. (But maybe I'm wrong about that?)
