Most overrated: Steve Ditko.
Best pencillers: Neal Adams; Gil Kane; Wally Wood.

Best by far: Neal Adams & Barry Smith (tied), followed by Steranko but as they only produced very modest bodies of work, honourable mention for prolific quality must go to John Buscema, followed by Gene Colan, Ditko & Kirby.
Most over-rated by far: Gil Kane. Followed by Sal Buscema.
Irony and subtly are the first casualties in the eternal battle of wits between people divided by a common language. So read between the lines or you'll fall through the cracks...
....Quoting other people is no substitute for thinking for yourself...

True, but I don't think many people rated Trimpe highly, so he isn't over-rated... just not very good.
John Severin was clearly under-rated at Marvel where he was relegated to inking lesser artists, who he made shine.Knowing Severin, however, he was probably happier doing Sgt. Fury than superheroes.
