spectacular shocker wrote:Sure, DC may be coming out with Omnibi on a regular basic, but most of their IMHO ground-breaking & innovative material from the '70's - '80's is largely being ignored. Sure, we've gotten the excellent NTT by Perez & Wolfman Omnibi & the Fourth World by Jack Kirby volumes. However, I would still like to see Classic Warlord by Mike Grell, Arak Son of Thunder, Arion Lord of Atlantis, Classic Jonah Hex, Amethyst, House of Secrets, Classic House of Mystery, The Gene Colan-drawn series Nathaniel Dusk/Jemm Son of Saturn/Night Force, Blue Devil, Omega Men, The Firestorm re-vamped '80's series, and many, many others from that era. Note that I'm biased towards those comics, since I was doing most of my DC comic collecting in the '80's...

But then, you'd really have to go back and include theUltramarine Corps stuff that sets up elements of Seven Soldiers. And then the JLA stuff that sets up the Ultramarine Corps. Look, just do a series of omnibuses called "The DCU according to Grant Morrison", OK?
Oh dang, I haven't read Ultramarine Corps in forever, I didn't realize there were connections to SS and FC. I'll have to check that out again.
And a "DCU according to Grant Morrison" would be awesome haha

I mean, look at the original post, that's just a list of what he WANTS to be omnibused, and thusly, whatever DC actually released that he didn't care about, those don't count or exist. I dunno, people seem inclined to conflate their personal likes and dislikes into some kind of grand indictment of everything they think has gone wrong. I mean, geez, if I said I wanted to see a Scribby and the Red Tornado Omnibus, the fact that DC hasn't published that book could hardly be described as some kind of failure of the "Omnibus" program (whatever that's perceived to be). It means they haven't published that book, I wich that they had, and nothing more.

I see the lack of Scribbly reprints as less a problem with the omnibus program and more of a combination large scale social problem/proof that humanity is spiritually deficient and that there is no just and loving God. But opinions may differ on this point.
