Leafing through my 1970s Batman and Detective Comics floppies, I realized - once again - how badly I want to see this material collected. Not just random snippets of it, like the Tales of the Demon TPB that collected the early R'as al Ghul stories or artist collections like the Neal Adams volumes, let alone the different "Best of" collections, but all of it - or at least complete runs - in chronological order. Some of my favorite 1970s Batman material is not covered by any existing collections that I know of.
Showcases seem like the best bet of ever getting there but they've slowed down significantly, presumably because of the infamous 'royalties barrier'. Besides, they are not in color which puts me off immediately.
The Chronicles format would probably eventually reach that point...but not in my lifetime, at the current pace.
Is there any hope for chronological collections of the 1970s Batman material? Or are there existing collections (in color) that I'm not aware of?
Is my only hope to hunt down the floppies I'm missing and bind them myself?
