Posts: 601 Jun 27 07 4:08 PM Golden Age Reply Quote More My Recent Posts	I picked Silver Age Marvel too. Because I am both a KIRBY & a Thor freak , so I decided SA Marvel would be the way to go. But it took everything I had not to choose Golden Age DC , Something about Old school DC just grabs me. I know the stories & art werent the greatest but there is just this Iconic thing about those books that really does t for me.

Posts: 10401 Jul 3 07 4:01 AM Reply Quote More My Recent Posts	Despite being very (very!) fond of both late Golden Age and early Silver Age DC, I have to say Silver Age Marvel. The level of quality held up right through about 1968, unlike DC's which dipped disastrously around '64 for three or four years. And Stan, Jack, and Steve really did, between '61 and '66, develop something new in superhero comics, which has provided the basis of the approach taken by the whole industry ever since. I love books like: Claremont/Cockrum/Byrne X-Men Tomb of Dracula Man-Thing Howard the Duck Marv Wolfman's Fantastic Four Godzilla Devil Dinosaur Micronauts Weirdworld John Carter of Mars Conan the Barbarian Jim Shooter/Michelinie/George Perez era Avengers The Invaders Batman of the 1970s Dr. Strange I'm sure there's more. I guess it's where I grew up, but the books of the 70s really "speak" to me. Lee & Kirby at the height of their powers with the introduction of two of Marvel's greatest characters in the Silver Surfer and Galactus. The whole span off FF from issues 40 through to 60 were superb. So many great characters introduced in this period. But these 3 issues for me are the creme de la creme.
