I had the set (bought on the aftermarket over the course of a year for an average of 30$ ea) but sold it during a downturn in finances for 300 - a slight profit for me and a decent price for the buyer. At the time, if you looked, the ebay prices were typically 50$ a volume. Dark Horse came out with tpbs at that time and included the 6th volume, but it was only b/w. I had half expected a hc version afterwards ( the barnes and noble hc of volume 1 was only 15$) but they never appeared.

Hmmmm.Akira was the one Dark Horse manga project that I didn't touch at the time (already overloaded with 3 monthlies, Super Manga Blast, and Lone Wolf & Cub). The Dark Horse edition (exactly reprinted by Kodansha today) has a more accurate translation, but uses the French "westernized" film as a starting point, which is why the sound effects are a bit weird.I'd be happy to take those color HCs off your hands, David!

He's not going to sell them to you for a ham sandwich and an old Boblo ticket stub. Those things cost some real dough!

Fortunately, none of my most-valuable most-wanted books have stories that I haven't read, so I can wait... I will be patient, like water...
