I will no longer be representing Capitol Bindery for comic related projects.
If you currently have a project in the shop I will follow through with it until it is complete.
If you would like to continue to work with Kevin at Capitol Bindery his contact information is as follows.
Kevin Brown
Capitol Bindery
1812 Vinton Street
Omaha, NE 68108
402-342-5511
Please note: Kevin does not usually answer his phone. So you must leave him a message.
I am currently auditioning possible replacement binderies but it will be a few months before new orders can be accepted.

Hi,
Are you going start working with another premium bindery?
=================
Yes, but instead of just one it will hopefully be three, each with their own specialties.

Sure. Mike runs a little bindery called Bindery 59. His late Father was a bookbinder but like a lot of kids he wasn’t interested in his father’s line of work.
However in his early 40s he changed his mind. He officially started accepting bookbinding projects June 1, 2010 but the whole year before he and I created practice books/sample books that were later sold on eBay.
Mike has a day job as an accountant and works out of his home on book projects evenings and weekends. He knows what it takes to make a well-crafted book and can tell you to the penny what his costs are.
When project volume is heavy his nephew Carl helps out.
As his customer list grows he is reinvesting his money back into the business for new and additional tools of the trade. I keep hoping for more die stamps and an expanded font selection.
PS: In my next post I will write about Yan of Guardian Bindery.

Yan’s bindery is called Guardian Bindery (after the Alpha Flight character).
He started doing bookbinding when he was 8 years old helping his grandfather on various projects. He has been making books ever since.
Born in Canada he has is now an American citizen and recently retired from the Air Force after 20 years.
A few years ago he introduced himself to Kevin at Capitol Bindery and started doing bible restoration work for him on weekends.
Since retirement he helps Kevin with restoration projects and also does hand sewn comics projects for me.
But that is not all he does because he also produces the softcover volumes for SBS. Over the last year he has revamped the production process to improve the quality of the finished books. He also devised a solution to pre-measure stacks of comics so that the cover designs fit as intended on the first try.
