Inaccessible is such an overwhelming concern. I think the renumbering / reboot; focus on digital; and halting (hopefully for a long time) of mega-events is a step in the right direction.
Are people here really expected that DC should have rebooted their entire line and then written all of their comics so that the average 9 year old kid's over protective mom would not be offended?

I would gladly give a kid Simonson's Thor to read, or Byrne's FF as those were all-ages books. And where they dull or childish? Absolutely not, quite the opposite. They were simply awesome, and had a lot more depth than many of today's gore-infested books.

Morrison did it too well ... as people liked the character enough that it continued to this day. Lemire's treatment is a horror/sci-fi hybrid. The main SWAMP THING comparison to the Moore era is Paquette's art evokes the Bissette/Totleben/Veitch/Yeates period. The story uses Moore characters (Abigail, Parliament), but is hardly derivative of Moore so far.

Isn't that... stupid? 1. Comics haven't been targeted towards 9 year olds since 1940. 2. Writing "down" to kids results in a lot more crap a lot than writing for everyone and letting kids embrace it if they want to. Look at Star Wars. The first 3 movies were not written to kids. The 2nd three were. Which ones are better?

I don't think Miller's Daredevil would have been "oh so much better and more MATURE" with Bullseye ripping his face off, neither I believe that making the sexual innuendo between Spider-Man and Black Cat a lot more explicit would have helped the stories one bit.

Now that we have more issues out it's easy to see that Catwoman and Red Hood won't have sex in most issues so the first issue gave a false impression. Suicide Squad and Voodoo were other examples of this. SS had long torture scenes while I think the only strip club scene for Voodoo was in the first issue. Unless I'm mistaken the harder content has been restricted to the Batman, Dark and Edge(?) lines. Superman, JLA and Teen are safe.
