Well, we're about 9 months in now, so how is the new status quo working for people? Is it a success, is it a failure, or something in-between? To me, absolutely a failure, and not just because I don't care for most of the books.
Other than Blue Beetle, JLI, and maybe Green Lantern and Batman, I find the books boring and near unreadable. OK, that's just my opinion. Superman in a red trunkless suit of armor? Renumbering Action Comics, Detective Comics, Superman, and Batman? J'onn J'onzz not a Justice League founder? Blasphemous! But again, just not my cup of tea, and it's a good jumping off point for me. Fine. No, what really convinced me that the new DCU is a complete failure was last Saturday, Free Comic Book Day. I was in my LCS, getting my books, and this little girl, maybe 5 or 6, was wanting an issue of Wonder Woman. Her father went to check on it, and had to tell her no, that Wonder Woman wasn't a comic for children. Then the little girl started crying. Something is terribly wrong at DC when ANY of their flagship titles "aren't for children." That just really made me angry, and convinced more than ever that "The New 52" was one of the stupidest moves in comic book history. It's the comic book equivilant of "New Coke." I want my DCU Classic back!!!
