I just got done comparing the new and improved softcover of Uncanny X-Men Vol. 5 to the original hardcover. The original hardcover had Micheal Kelleher on Color Reconstruction and Pond Scum on Art Reconstruction. The new softcover has Michael Kelleher & Kellustration doing it all.Linework: Both have very complete and good-looking linework. The hardcover's linework has a very slight blur to it with some pixelation if you look close. The softcover's linework fixes this as it is very smooth and clean. Color: The softcover looks like it was completely recolored and the improvement is more noticeable to me here. Both editions match the original floppy colors, but the color tones are more appealing in the softcover imo. The covers have the gradient skin tones that more closely match the originals. Lips and eyes are picked out more frequently, Still, a very close match overall. The reproduction is very much improved where the "Phoenix, the Untold Story" is concerned and the Bizarre Adventures story looks 1000 times better. The "Dark Phoenix Tapes" section is reproduced exactly like it was in the original floppy complete with the panel art (the hardcover just has the text reprinted).Softcover Extras: Original Art: #132 Cover, page 6 and 15; #133 page 4; #137 Cover and unused splash to #138 TPB covers to 1984, 1999, 2000, 2003, 2006 TPBs and 2010 HC. (I don't have any of these to compare to).Overall: If you think the original hc looks good enough, then don't bother upgrading as they are very close in quality. If you want the latest and greatest (imo), then go for it! And if you don't have this story in any format, quit embarrassing yourself and go order a copy today!

Cory said that the Regular editions of ASM v1-2, Cap v1, FF v1, Avengers v1, X-Men v1 and Uncanny v1 have already seen 2nd prints. I've seen third printings of ASM v1 and Avengers v1, and a second printing of ASM v5. Looks like an effort is being made to keep these things available.
