Waiting for DD #3 and Spider-Man #7 to arrive by mail from ToW. Looking forward to the Captain America and the Iron Man #2.

The paper has a nice lustre and the blacks seem solid. It also has no 'Marvel' logo on the spine of the variant (an error) which separates out nicely the black logo on volumes 1-35 and the red logo on volumes 37up. I'm just thrilled that they didn't muck about with the release order at the time of the logo change.

Defenders is significantly later, however, as their first appearance in Masterworks was Vol. 100. My advice: If you really want to read something and it's more than, say, 30 volumes away from softcover, look for a good deal on the hardcover.

No, they cannot produce them quicker because in some cases they are still tweaking and improving the artwork and in all cases the artist that does the covers to the black editions needs time to produce the artwork.
