This marks John Romita's second month drawing Spider-Man ... Daredevil #16 in March, #17 this month, and next month? Well, let's hear it from Stan, from Spidey #38 ...
"NEXT ISH: The most eagerly-awaited event in a spider's age! The return of the Green Goblin! But, even more than that -- the start of a new era in Spiderdom! Don't dare miss this landmark issue which features a new hand at the artistic tiller, as jazzy Johnny Romita takes over the illustrating chores, while our lovable leader, smilin' Stan, prepares to write the greatest yarns of his award-winning career! Be sure to tie a web around your claw so you won't forget -- SPIDEY #39 -- the start of another magnificent Marvel march to greatness -- and we want you with us all the way! -- Someone's gotta carry the banner!"
With AMAZING SPIDER-MAN OMNIBUS 2 soon to be released, featuring the first chunk of John's work on the title, what do you folks think? Was Ditko or Romita the superior Spider-Man artist? I do love Steve's work -- the most consistently great work in the early Marvel Universe, in my opinion -- but I have a soft spot for John's art, and I consider late-1960s to early-1970s Spidey to be the best period in the Web-Spinner's history. Anyway, onto your opinions and comments!
5 APRIL 1966
THOR #129: Hercules! Pluto! Zeus! Odin! Thor! The Netherworld! How can we do it all for 12ยข?

X-MEN #21: The secret of Lucifer, revealed at last, as the X-Men face: Dominus!

DAREDEVIL #17: The wrap-up of the season's greatest fight -- D.D. versus Spidey! It's a blast!

TALES TO ASTONISH #81: Sub-Mariner goes mad! As for the Hulk, he's fighting everyone in sight!

12 APRIL 1966
STRANGE TALES #146: Fury tackles the mystery of "Them"! Dr. Strange meets Eternity again!

AVENGERS #29: Wow! Look who's back! Power Man! The Black Widow! And the Swordsman!

SGT. FURY #31: Captain Sawyer gets into action at last! It's a bombshell!

AMAZING SPIDER-MAN #38: Once again Spidey battles a brand-new, nuttier-than-ever super villain!

FANTASTIC FOUR #52: The first appearance of the sensational, spectacular Black Panther!

TALES OF SUSPENSE #79: Iron Man faces disaster! Captain America takes the Red Skull! Hooo boy!
