The poster style illustration shown at the link depicts an Eagle pretty much like those in the '70's series. You know, as someone who watched Space: 1999 when it was originally on, one of the sad things about this was just how little progress we've made since 1975 in terms of reaching out into space. I kind of wonder if there will be a series made in 2099 called Space:2199 with Eagle spaceships still being depicted as something in the far flung future.
The other thing I wonder is if they'll change the premise at all. The original had the moon being blasted out of orbit and traveling through interstellar space, which was pretty much insane.
Space: 2099 is poised for a comeback.
ITV Studios America and HDFILMS announced plans for a reimagining of Gerry and Sylvia Anderson's famed franchise of the 1970's. The news comes months after Fox and producer Seth MacFarlane announced they, too, would be reviving Cosmos: A Space Time Odyssey, a 1980s mini-series from Carl Sagan...
"While we are indeed re-imagining the franchise and bringing something new and relevant to today’s audiences," continued Hall, who recently revived V at ABC, "I feel strongly that some of the overall tones set by the original Space: 1999 television show represent an exciting platform to explore possibilities.”
