I included a picture of the spine below (sorry if it's not clear enough, I can take better shots when I get home). What I want to know is if this process can be used for comics. The cover had the URL for http://www.unibind.com printed along the spine, which sells equipment to make such bindings.

Posts: 77 Jan 18 12 1:17 PM Reply Quote More My Recent Posts	Having only skimmed the site, it looks to me that what they do is get pdfs or other electronic documents, print them and then bind them. It doesn't look like they take previously printed material. But hey, shoot them an email. It's worth a shot.

I figured the Unibind company only sold the equipment and didn't do the bindings, I was hoping to find another company that used the process (like the company that bound my condo documents, for instance). My concern was, from scanning the site, it looked like the bound papers were glued together, and I wasn't sure how secure that was. Also curious if the process required comics to be chopped up like they would during a regular binding, or if they could be bound as-is (though I guess they'd be getting ruined either way).

Posts: 354 Jan 18 12 1:35 PM Reply Quote More My Recent Posts	Your condo company probably had it done at Office Depot or Kinkos. The Unibind system is a glue based one where the covers have glue on the spines, the pages are inserted and it is set in a heater to heat the glue. For presentation and stability reasons, I would say, not the best option.

They have the experience in dealing with comics, and they make a product that looks like a book. You go cheap, and you get what you pay for. I recommend: Vertigo - Fables, Fairest, Unwritten; DCnU - All Star Western, Animal Man, Batman, Batman and..., Batman Inc, Batwoman, Flash, Justice League Dark, Swamp Thing, Wonder Woman; Other - BPRD, Hellboy, The Goon

I certainly wouldn't bother with it, though.
