What this board needs is a running thread on high-quality microbrewed beer! Given the peculiarities on craft beer distribution, microbrew products have very spotty and often very localized distribution. Case in point, the beers I find on a "temporary duty" trip to the DC/Baltimore area are very different than those I find in my (new) stomping grounds of San Antonio.
As the humble starter of this thread, I hereby declare that there will be NO, I repeat NO degeneration into political/religious discussions in this thread (unless your religion' is home brewing or microbrews).
I just got home from work after stopping at my local beer emporium to stock up on beer for my long weekend. After two weeks' worth of homebrewed IPAs and Black IPAs (look 'em up!), I opted for stouts and porters this weekend.
Right now, I'm finishing up a Left Coast Brewing Co's Voodoo American Stout, with an ABV of 8.5%. While I like Left Coast's IPAs, I am not thrilled with this stout. It's potent alright ... but all I taste is the alcohol and not any of that 'roasty goodness' I expect from a stout or porter.
