It just occurred to me that there has never been (to my knowledge at least) a book devoted to the field of comic art restoration. Given how big a topic that is on this board, and that we have some true experts on the subject in our midst, I thought it might be fun to propose the idea.
The book could start with the big picture issues involved in any art restoration effort; namely, how exactly do you choose to re-present an original work of comic art in an updated non-comic format and why. It could then give a history of those efforts over the years, which could include a history of collected editions of both comic strip and comic book material. Then there could be chapters on particular areas of interest (eg, Theakstonization, digitalization, re-creation, locating/using original art, coloring, paper stock, etc, etc). And you could always fill it out with an index/checklist of works.
My favorite part of such a book would be comparing/contrasting the different restoration efforts on some key works. Having side-by-side comparisons of those original strips/pages with their various restoration efforts would be really cool!
