I didn't follow the sales figures at the time, but I was under the impression that the Legion didn't fair too well under Shooter's hand recently.

think the problem is, as eyes4u6666 alreasy pointed out in his review, that DC sacrificed the legion as a bone to throw to paul levitz and have him peacefully step back from his previous job as president and publisher.

Were you in on the meeting with Levitz and DC--read the sevretary's notes? What facts can you give us to support the Legion is a sacrifical bone to Paul Levitz? And, if none, could you stop promulgating a baseless myth?

But, to suggest DC hired a bad writer for internal ppolitical reasons seems dumb to me.

Levitz returning to the Legion is like Claremont returning to the X-Men. His name is synonymous with the property, so I think it was a no-brainer to give him the book, especially in the wake of the Waid reboot Legion fiasco. Johns is obviously a big fan as well. Levitz was out-the-door anyway, so I don't think the two were related -- he probably would have had a different book had the Legion been an active and successful property at the time of his departure. The bottom line is that it wasn't, so any editor worth their salt would have jumped at the chance of Levitz's return (and I'm glad they did!).
