I haven't read any of Hickman's run on Fantastic Four, but I have been intrigued by some of the positive reviews. However, I happened upon a spoiler while perusing the Byrne forums, which has me hesitant to pick up the trades. This has to do with a story in which Reed leads an effort to kill an alternate version of Galactus (& apparently succeeds).
If this is accurate, I think that this is strongly out of character, and causes me to question Hickman's judgement in understanding the essence of certain comic book heroes. Does this bother anyone else? Is this just another manifestation of what a lot of us dislike about "modern" Marvel and its anti-heroes?
I don't want my (previously established) heroes killing, and Reed, being a brain, should be able to find away to stop a threat without resorting to killing. Plus, it's previously been shown that Galactus is a necessary force in the universe, so killing him is illogical as well (unless there's been a retcon?).
Or is there something else to this story which the apparent spoiler that I read didn't mention?
