And there were some readers for whom that was their favourite element of the whole Crossgen line. Agreed, and actually quite surprised that the sigils would be viewed negatively, since for the majority of the comics - the sigil-bearers and the effects of the sigils were the corner stones of the books. Admittedly, my 2 favorite books, RUSE and SOJOURN centered around 2 characters without sigils...

Also Wonder Woman, similar to Thor, is pretty steeped in mythology. If you want to count superheroes that sort of go into other genres, Birds of Prey is pretty espionage/spy related isn't it? Secret Six maybe as well (I haven't read it). Monsters? Solomon Grundy was there recently, albeit for a mini only. The Fourth World is full of monsters. We had Land that War Forgot (war/sci-fi) not too long ago. We have Jonah Hex now. Although non-DCU, we have had the Spirit for some time now and Doc Savage.Agreed that fresh concepts are very rare nowadays (other than Vertigo), but that goes for superheroes too and for both companies. They just don't stick for some reason.DC still ahead in terms of diversification almost any way you look at it.
