I recently finished reading EERIE ARCHIVES 3. EERIE 11 was Archie Goodwin's last gasp as editor: it contains FIRST BLOOD in which Gene Colan makes good use of stark contrasts of light and dark and his idiosyncratic diagonal panels. Wally Wood does a nice adaptation of Universal's THE MUMMY(1932), which originally appeared in Warren's MONSTER WORLD mag.
Tom Sutton does well on 2 of his earlier tales for Warren: THE MONSTER FROM ONE BILLION B.C.(which he scripted himself) and a suitably grotesque adaptation of E. A. Poe's THE MASQUE OF THE RED DEATH.
Jeff Jones has 3 stories in this collection. Although they are from his formative years his extremely limited work in comics makes them of historical interest.
With only one exception, the stories in EERIE 13-14 are all reprints from early issues of CREEPY.
EERIE 15 finds Warren clawing his way back with mostly new material. Give him credit for honesty: the letter column contains several letters complaining of the reprints found in EERIE 13.
