I already have the Jack Kirby series of Black Panther # 1 - 12 bound and I have the Jungle Action : Black Panther # 6 - 24 in comic book form. What else do I need to complete my Black Panther collection? Could anyone put together a map of the various Black Panther comics from the beginning and right through to the current series? It may be that I just bind my Jungle Action collection in one volume, but I would like to see what else I might include in other volumes. Any help would be appreciated.

Posts: 4223 (11/14/05 5:09 AM) Golden Age Reply Quote More My Recent Posts Message Me Connection Blocking Invite	Marvel Premiere #51-53 finishes the Panther vs. the KKK story from Jungle Action, but takes place chronologically after Black Panther #15. There is a four-issue mini-series by Peter Gillis and Denys Cowan. And the Panther's Prey mini-series by McGregor and Turner. And the great serial in Marvel Comics Presents by McGregor, Colan & Palmer! I personally would like to see the Christopher Priest Marvel Knights BP series bound--issues 1-50--and Marvel isn't likely to reprint them any time soon!

Where do # 13 to 15 which followed the Kirby issues ('#1 - 12) fit into the picture? Are they related to Panthers Rage? Who were the team on these three issues?

Posts: 2075 (11/14/05 11:08 AM) Golden Age Reply Quote More My Recent Posts Message Me Connection Blocking Invite	The Panther's Quest story in MCP was by Don McGregor, Gene Colan and Tom Palmer (and I really ought to complete that story for myself sometime) Black Panther 13, I believe tied up the loose ends of the final Kirby issues. BP 14-15 was a two part story featuring Klaw and the Avengers which continued directly into (but had no actual plot connection with) Marvel Premiere 51-53 which tied up the loose ends of the Jungle Action Klan story.

(assuming that all of my recent e-bay purchases come through). I already have the Kirby issues # 1 - 12 bound and I intend to bind the remainder into two volumes as follows: First book - Jungle Action # 1 - 24 (including the non Panther stories. Jack Kirby's book would fit in between the two books. Second Book - Black Panther # 13 - 15, Marvel Premiere # 51 - 53, Black Panther Mini # 1 - 4, Marvel Comics Presents # 13 - 37, Panthers Prey # 1 - 4. Have I missed anything? Have I got them in the right order? Are there anymore Black Panther comics until the Priest run?

Posts: 2271 (11/24/05 11:32 PM) Golden Age Reply Quote More My Recent Posts Message Me Connection Blocking Invite	I know it's the "inner geek" in me speaking, but personally, I couldn't bear the thought of the "Panther Vs. the Klan" storyline being spread across 2 volumes, Ray! I'd include Black Panther #13-15 and Marvel Premiere #51-53 in the first volume, with Jungle Action #1-24. That way, you could have the entire saga between 2 covers. Of course, this would make it a pretty large volume, so I can see the logic in breaking it down your way. Myself, I had a bound volume done of Jungle Action #6-18 a few years back, so that I could have a collected edition of "Panther's Rage". The binder I chose did a pretty bad job, though, failing to trim the pages to a uniform size, so I've been considering having David Banks "re-master" that volume for me.

However, I think Ray's 1st volume belongs in his Kirby collection, and I think he already bound it. Is that right? But if he did take that approach, wouldn't one volume be much larger than the rest? Your mileage may vary of course, hence the brackets. Since there's no real running theme in your 3rd Volume, that seems like ultimately the best (if not ideal) way to go. If you ever decided to include the Priest run or the newer series it would fit right in thematically (i.e. Black Panther Volume 4: Priest - Book 1, Book 2 etc.)

Did the Black Panther Kirby trade book have a sub title..?
