Wouldn't increasing a book past its size mean adjustments to the cost because of more paper being used?
I get the impression paper isn't a huge portion of the price of books. I bet the gas it takes to move an Omnibus from point A to B is more than the paper.

Hard covers cover the cost of the repro up front.

Today's standard format is widescreen. Should that classic movie be re-released in the present format, even though it would distort the original?

Well, maybe I'm a realist...but, when I see SUGAR AND SPIKE #1 reproduced with altered art, it just drives me nuts. Sheldon Mayer is (was) perfectly capable of producing top-quality comic art. He certainly doesn't need someone to clean up after him.

Case in point: the cover to JLA #2 as printed in the DC Archives. Obviously redrawn, and not a good restoration, IMO. I would have rather they just scanned the original comic cover and used that.
I have no idea how the people doing the work in compiling this stuff must feel, getting it on both ends like this, but it just seems like a no-win scenario, since the more time they take to work on it, the less their profit margin is.
