For aspiring artists hoping to learn from Simonson's, Stevens', and other artists' raw art, Dunbier said, a book such as this "really is invaluable." "You can go to comic book shows and see who's hanging out around original art tables, it's always fans but also a lot of pencillers, inkers, people who want to learn from a great artist. Looking at this book, or the Dave Stevens book since it's already out, you can see every brush stroke. You can see every bit of whiteout and blue pencil. You get the feeling of really being able to piece together what an artist was thinking. It's there for you to discover if you can read it properly. And nothing beats looking at great art by a great artist."

More info here. Thanks Lev. That looks pretty neat, but I don't know if it's for me. The one issue that should have been included for sure is #380, the Thor vs Jormungand splash page battle issue. That would have been truly epic!

My name is Oedi and I soar amidst the stars far from the planet of my birth. I guess this starship is the closest thing I've got to a home now, for I am a refugee and an outlaw. Vanth Dreadstar, Syzygy Darklock, Willow 327, Rainbow and Skeevo are my family. We are revolutionaries. Our goal? To bring an end to the 200 year old war between the Instrumentality and the Monarchy!

Make sure you have them ship to your home to get the online price of $68.42. They will print out an ivoice for $68.42 which you then go pay at the register. Give the coupon for 50% off found on the deal forums and act surprised when cashier say you just got 50% off making the order $34.21 plus tax Did four different orders yesterday including Dark Tower Omnibus for $49.50Doing some more tonight.

I can only hope that they are able to put together something like this for Kane, J. Buscema, Wrightson, J. Romita, Everett (like, hows about his 70s run on Namor? Drool), etc. It would also be nice to see a Kirby work like this, stronger than the xerox copies shown in the Kirby Collector.

While it would be nice, I doubt IDW would be able to do those volumes. The reason why they could do it for both Rocketeer and Simonson Thor is...both Stevens and Simonson kept all their art.

Yeah, I'll survive. It'll be nice to have this magnificent tome on my bookshelf, and now I'm glad I didn't pick up the Visionaries when I saw them all earlier this year at a bookstore. My problem was always that I would only buy them if I could get them all in one shot, and was always thwarted, so I'm glad to have this bad boy, which is the same size, give or take 8 pages, as my big daddy omnibus, Secret Wars II. Also glad we are getting the Byrne omnibus now at a point in the future, as I recently almost picked up Volumes 0-8 at the same bookstore, but was only stopped because they didn't have volume 3. Glad I waited for the Omniboos for Byrne!

Except a fair amount of that would have gone to the inkers (was it just Jansen?), and at that time I think also some to the writers (which would only affect the earlier part of his run). Does Klaus Jansen keep all his art?
