There are so many more twice and thrice told tales out there that have been reprinted ad nauseam, maybe even more than these, but in my mind, these as some of the worst offenders for repetition. -Eric

Bronze Age
1) Superman from Action Comics #1 - around 2000-ish, in a hardcover book about historically important comics. Superman was the sole superhero in the book This wasn't the complete story, though, just the part where Clark and Louis go dancing and Superman saves her from her abdoctors. Didn't like it much then, but enjoyed the full story once I read it some years later. You kind of need the entire 13 pages to get a proper feel for the feature. 2) Batman from Detective Comics #27 - Batman Chronicles vol 1, back around it's original release. Don't like it much - I found the first year or so of Batman stories to be for the most part fairly weak, and this is one of the worst ones. 3) Spider-Man from Amazing Fantasy #15 - I have absolutely no idea, it was some local reprint of sorts, I believe. Classic story, of course I loved it. It's one of the few superhero stories my strictly humor comics-reading brother has admitted to liking, so you know it has to be good. 4) Fantastic Four #1 - The first essential. Good origin story, somewhat weak on the villain side, but relatively likable. 5) Batman (new look) from Detective Comics #327 - Sorry, not read this. 6) Green Lantern/Green Arrow #76 - Nor this. 7) Superboy (and the LSH) from Adventure Comics #247 - ...nor this. I need to catch up on my DC reading. 8) Avengers #4 - The first essential, I believe. Pretty forgettable main story, really, and Cap's first appearance wasn't really made that big a deal about. I knew the basics of the Cap Retrieval from flashbacks I had read before anyway. 9) The Brave and the Bold #28 - Not read this one either. 10) Avengers #16 - First essential this one, too. This one I got much more excited about. I had read little about this iteration of the team, and this one did a good job of hyping me for the next coupel issues, to see how this team would work out. 11) X-Men #1 - not quite sure, some reprint somewhere. Not much of a story, too slow, too much focus on showing off the powers of these characters, pretty forgettable battle, and Magneto isn't particularly impressive here compared to later stories I had read already. 12) Thor from Journey Into Mystery #83 - First essential. Thought it was pretty bad then, and now, after reading more early 60s Marvel monster stories, it seems even less impressive. It's more a monster story than a super hero story, and I've read much better monster tales than this. 13) Supergirl from Action Comics #252 - nope. 14) Captain America (origin story) from Captain America Comics #1 - Back in the old Classic Years slipcase, though I had read the Silver Age remake earlier. Not much of a story, just there to introduce the hero of the other stories in the same issue, really. Does it's job quite well, but nothing outstanding.

Or was it Marvel Collectors' Item Classics #1?) 13) Supergirl from Action Comics #252 Bought it new. 14) Captain America (origin story) from Captain America Comics #1 The Great Comic Book Heroes, 1965 Basically, with a very few exceptions, mostly 1962-64 Marvel and pre-1958 DC, probably amounting to fewer than 25 books, I read the whole Silver Age in real time, as it unfolded. My real benefit from reprints was in Golden Age stuff. The Feiffer book, for instance, was a treasure which those of you who grew up on readily-available old reprints will have trouble appreciating.
