I also have a seperate volume planned for the annuals, giant sized books and maybe the first 10 or so issues of King Conan.

Above: the Neal Adams Conan. Would have loved to see what Adams could have done with a Tarzan book.

New books: Conan and Defenders |

Just delivered today. This was a pain to put together. Still need to complete 1 - 24, probably with reprints. I guess I'll end this at 190 when Buscema left. If anyone can give me their opinion of issues past 190, please let me know.

HighlandRay,
I'm assuming you used the Classic Conan reprints from the 90's to complete your Conan 1 - 24 volume. That gives me some good ideas. I hope to be able to do a Savage Sword project one day...right now that's a bit daunting. I've thought of adding Kull, Red Sonja, John Carter, Warlord of Mars...Buscema's Tarzan is at the binder as we speak. What else would fit into this catagory? |

Yea, other than the 12 or so issues of Conan Classic the rest were all originals.
Savage Sword is also on my horizon together with Kull and the Barbarians. Presently I have # 1 - 102 of Savage Sword and all of the Kull magazines. |

HighlandRay,
I was poking around on David Banks' website and in his 5/24 update I saw a pic of your Conan comics in their pre-bound state. That issue number one looks good. The stack of comics right next to yours in the picture are mine...three volumes of Star Wars that Capitol is binding for me. |

Your covers look *so* 19th century.
(I'm not saying that's a bad thing; whatever makes you happy is good in my book.) --
I make comics! Retroactive Comics - old school superheroes, old school stories! No gritty, no trenchcoats, no decompression! First issue aiming for late 2006. |

Agg these Classic Conan reprints were IMHO better than the originals, better paper, better colour and lots of extras.

Samy,
Yes, I do go for kind of an "antiquated" look. ( The Conan age was a long time ago). I have a problem with wanting a lot of info on the spine of my books. Took me a while to find a binder that could help achieve what I wanted in an economical fashion and I am getting a great deal. Plus, this is a format that the wife approves for display on the bookshelf! |

Quote: How about Savage Tales? Conan, Ka-Zar, Shanna the She-Devil, assorted barbarians.. And let's not forget those "vicious voluptuaries" the Femizons! Some great art by Barry Smith, John Buscema, Russ Heath, John Romita etc. I am also accumulating John Carter issues. I have fond memories of the comic (as well as the ERB books themselves!), and I fear these will never be collected. So having them bound is the only way to go. Comicsdad |

Gullivar Jones and Thongor from Creatures on the Loose #16 - #29 (14 issues) would make a nice volume...

Agg, I for one love your style of books. The old library effect looks great.

Quote: I don't remove any adds or covers unless its a contemporary comic. The old bronze age adds are fun to read through. ( I do remove those funky jewelry centerfolds in some of the late 70's comics.) Quote: Thanks! I think they look really good on the shelf. |
