One of the first projects that I have planned for that year is a 5 or 6 volume Chronicles of Thanos. What follows is my first stab at a map - please feel free to add or offer advice. Thanos Chronicles : Book One Life & Death of Captain Marvel TPB Warlock (Baxter Edition) # 1 - 6 Thanos Chronicles : Book Two Infinity Gauntlet # 1 - 6 Infinity War #1 - 6 Infinity Crusade # 1 - 6 Thanos Chronicles : Book Three Silver Surfer # 34 - 38 Thanos Quest # 1 - 2 Logan's Run # 6 Marvel Comics Presents # 108 - 111 Resurrection # 1 - 4 Warlock Chronicles # 1 - 8 Cosmic Powers : Thanos # 1 Thanos Chronicles : Four Warlock and the Infinity Watch # 1 - 31 Thanos Chronicles : Five Thanos : Infinity Abyss # 1 - 6 Marvel : The End # 1 - 6 Thanos # 1 - 12 Book Three is the big unknown to me. I've included Silver Surfer # 34 - 38 because it is going to be in the upcoming Thanos trade, but were there not other issues of this Silver Surfer series that dealt with Thanos? The new trade also contains the back-up Thanos story from Logan's Run # 6 - What's this about? MCP # 108 - 111 are in the new Infinity Gauntlet trade - what's this about? I have Cosmic Powers : Thanos # 1 included. Did the rest of this mini have anything to do with Thanos. Any other input would be welcome. Have I missed any other important Thanos appearances? I don't mean a one page appearance in an Avengers issue, I'm not that anal that I need to include every single appearance, but I would like to cover all of his important appearances.

Can anyone take the above listing a weave it into the correct reading order? Although I'm not sure that I want to weave the various off-shots from the Infinity Quests between the actuak issues.

Posts: 27 (12/19/05 2:46 PM) Reply Quote More My Recent Posts Message Me Connection Blocking Invite	In terms of continuity if you're wanting to make it chronological, you've got a loooong haul ahead for you. A lot of the events surrounding the various Infinity "Wars" were happening concurrently, even in the major books that Thanos was appearing in. I'm not good enough at sorting through the densities of this kind of thing to feel comfortable giving you a lot of advice, but I will say that you need to have "Thanos Quest" before "Infinity Gauntlet", since the events of TQ are a direct pre-cursor to IG. So that's one change I'd definitely make.

For instance, I've been going through Warlock and the Infinity Watch and have seen how much they are linked into the various Infinity minis and the Warlock Chronicles. However, some good news, I looks like it can disregard Infinity Watch issues beyond # 22 as they seem to have no connection to Thanos. I think what I will do next is to try and lay out the issues chronologically before I start trying to assign them to volumes.

I have also taken out the Blood & Thunder series which seems to be mostly about a mad Thor although Thanos does appear. The art is also crap in the few comics that I have seen. Captain Marvel #25-30 06. Marvel Feature #12 07. Captain Marvel #31-33 08. Avengers 125 09. Warlock #9-11 10. Warlock #15 11. Avengers Annual #7 12. Marvel Two-In-One Annual #2 13. Marvel Graphic Novel #1 - The Death of Captain Marvel This is the entire Thanos War. I don't have all these books, but I've confirmed that most of them either have fairly important story elements (the two Daredevil books) or direct appearances. The Daredevil appearances are solely flashbacks, but they contain exposition regarding the conflict. Thanos also makes an appearance in Avengers #118, but it is one panel and has absolutely nothing to do with the Thanos War in and of itself. Logan's Run #6 is also a "stand alone" story, so you may not want to include it, but it fits fairly neatly just before the major conflict starts in the pages of Captain Marvel. Prelude to Infinity Gauntlet: 01. Silver Surfer #34-38 02. Silver Surfer #40 03. Thanos Quest #1-2 04. Silver Surfer #44-47 05. Spider-Man #17 06. Cloak & Dagger #18 07. Silver Surfer #48-50 08. Quasar #24 Several of the Silver Surfer issues in this don't actually have Thanos, but they're very key to the plot, and without them I'd worry that your books would be kind of meandering. This, of course, is the whole trouble with Thanos...during all the events he plays a major role in he's often times working "behind the scenes".

Silver Surfer #52 05. Dr. Strange #53 06. Infinity Gauntlet #4 07. Silver Surfer #57 08. Infinity Gauntlet #5 09. Silver Surfer #59 10. Infinity Gauntlet #6 11. Warlock and the Infinity Watch #1 Lots of little tidbits and things here to work out. In Silver Surfer #55 and 56 Thanos enlaves Death, destroys the heroes and the Silver Surfer becomes the ruler of the universe. This turns out to all be a daydream, so Thanos' appearances never actually happened. The events of Silver Surfer #58 deal directly with Thanos' actions in Infinity Gauntlet #4/Silver Surfer #59, but are not "key" elements to the plot involving Thanos, so I didn't include it (its more of a Surfer-centric story). The Infinity War: 01. Warlock and the Infinity Watch #5 02. Silver Surfer Annual #5 03. Infinity War #1 04. Warlock and the Infinity Watch #7 05. Infinity War #2-3 06. Warlock and the Infinity Watch #8 07. Marvel Comics Presents #108-11 08. Quasar #38 09. Fantastic Four #369 10. Alpha Flight #111 11. Infinity War #4 12. Wonder Man #14 13. Quasar #39-40 14. Infinity War #5 15. Warlock and the Infinity Watch #10 16. Fantastic Four #370 17. Infinity War #6 18. Quasar #42 19. Marvel Holiday Special 1993 This where things go completely screwy. Warlock and the Infinity Watch #5 doesn't actually feature Thanos, but a "mysterious voice" talking to Warlock. Its a direct prelude to Infinity War though and is kind of important. SS Annual #5 is also kind of "outside" the lines, but it does fit in around this timeframe. Around Infinity War #4 everything begins to happen concurrently. The events of FF #369 cover 2 entire issues of Infinity War. There's really no way to make them completely chronologically correct...I did the best I could. Quasar #42 and Marvel Holiday Special 1993 are both "stand-alone" issues, and fit in pretty well at this point. The Infinity Crusade: 01. Infinity Crusade #1-2 02. Warlock Chronicles #2 03. Warlock and the Infinity Watch #19 04. Infinity Crusade #3 05. Warlock and the Infinity Watch #20 06. Silver Surfer #83 07. Infinity Crusade #4 08. Silver Surfer #84 09. Infinity Crusade #5-6 No continuity problems here, but obviously it would be a pretty small volume if laid out this way (like the IG one). Thanos is a "behind the scenes" character in IC #2, but it is essential for plot.

Warlock and the Infinity Watch #25 05. Thor #471 A short crossover involving an insane Thor being helped by Warlock and Thanos. 06. Secret Defenders #11-13 Another short story involving Thanos. 07. Quasar #59 08. Silver Surfer #98 A pair of stand-alone stories. 09. Cosmic Powers Unlimited #1 10. Cosmic Powers #1-6 I don't have any of these, and various sources have the continuity listed in different ways. One has the events of CP taking place BEFORE CPU...the other the exact opposite. So no help there really. 11. Silver Surfer/Rune #2 12. Spider-Man Team-Up #2 13. Silver Surfer: Dangerous Artifacts 14. Green Lantern/Silver Surfer Various and sundry stand-alones. The "Rune" story is apparently beyond awful. There's also a flashback issue that could fit in here in "Captain Marvel v3 #14" if you're so inclined...it probably isn't worth the hassle though, as its a fairly brief mention of Thanos. 15. DC vs. Marvel #1-4 Thanos is "behind the scenes" in #1. 16. KaZar '97 Annual 17. KaZar #4-10 As far as I can tell this entire arc involves Thanos working behind the scenes to free himself after he's revealed to be trapped in an alternate dimension. He does eventually appear in the arc though, so its probably worth tracking down since the whole thing involves him. Apparently you can even go so far as to include issues 1, 2, 3 and 11. 18. X-Man & Hulk '98 (Annual) 19. Deadpool #33 More stand-alones. 01. Thor #21 02. Thor Annual 2000 03. Thor #22-25 04. Captain Marvel #17-19 Various short stories.

The End #1-6 Between CQ and IA there's a Deadpool story called "Funeral for a Freak" wherein it is determined that Thanos was the cause of all Deadpool's problems. Thank you again, you have given me a lot to think about. The good news is that this is not on my schedule to bind until early 2007, so there is time to make a final decision and to get the missing comics.

I have over 50 books that I could send to David tomorrow (if I had unlimited funds). Until recently I had them listed in the strict order that I was planning to bind them, however, of late I have decided to go with the flow and send them in the order that appeals to me on any particular day. That order changes day by day, nothing is firm until in reaches the Post Office counter.
