More specifically, I will be binding together
1) Vampire Tales 1-11
2) Tales of the Zombie 1-10
3) Savage Tales 1-11 (I think I will save this one for the last..)
4) Monsters Unleashed 1-11
5) Dracula Lives! 1-13
6) Haunt of Horror 1-5
7) Tomb of Dracula 1-6
Anyway, there are a number of other Marvel B&W horror mags out there as well, and I would like to hear where other people would put them.
First, there are two issues of Masters of Terror (which I don't own yet). These had adaptations of classic horror stories (H. G. Wells, H. P. Lovecraft, Robert Bloch etc.) reprinted from earlier Marvel comics. I thought these could go together with Haunt of Horror issues, since that was a sort of anthology anyway. (OK, OK, all these were, in a sense..) Any thoughts on this?
Then, there are a few relevant issues Marvel Preview/Bizarre Adventures. I am not 100% sure where to put all of them. Marvel Preview #3 has a Blade story, so that could go with Vampire Tales. The same goes for #8, which features Morbius and Blade.
Marvel Preview #7 features Satana, and since she was featured prominently in the Haunt of Horror, I thought I'd bind this one together with those. Marvel Preview #s 12 and 16 both have Dracula and Lilith stories, so maybe Dracula Lives! would be a good home these two issues. Or Vampire Tales?
Bizarre Adventures #29 had, among other things, Stephen King & Walt Simonson adaptation of King's "Lawnmower Man", but also a number of vampire stories, so.. Vampire Tales? Or Haunt of Horror? BA #31 has a number of horror stories with no recurring characters. Haunt of Horror? And BA #31 has a Simon Garth story which takes place during the storyline in the Tales of the Zombie AND a Dracula story (by Bissette and Totleben, some pretty disturbing images..) So, Tales of the Zombie or Dracula Lives!?
And then there is the one single issue of the Legion of Monsters. Features Dracula, Frankenstein's Monster and..Manphibian! Dracula story is part of Thomas/Giordano adaptation of the book, so perhaps I'd put this in with the other chapters of that adaptation in Dracula Lives!
I'd like to mention that this (Marvel B&W horror mags) web site has been very helpful in figuring out all this...
