Funny, I picked up duplicate copies of all those 70's Marvel B & W Horror mags myself a couple years back, with the intention of having them bound, but haven't gotten around to it. I also intended to have Marvel's "Planet of the Apes" mags bound, but after recently learning that the UK POTA mag had adapted Killraven stories into Apes tales (Apeslayer), I might have to pick up the relevent issues of the UK version, as well. ( Not to get off topic, but RAY, I know you recently had POTA bound, if I may ask, what issues of the UK POTA mag contained the "Apeslayer" stories?).

As far as your ideas concerning the 70's B&W mags, you seem to have a pretty good grasp on how to break them out. I don't know if you intend to include them, but there were also "Super Annual Issues" of the monster mags, which were the last issues published of Dracula Lives, Monsters Unleashed, Vampire Tales, and Tales of the Zombie. These contain all reprints from the earlier issues, but in one case, there is a story from an earlier Vampire Tales that was originally published with pages out of order, which is corrected in the Annual. They also contain letter's pages, if I recall correctly, and would be neat to include just for those, and for the covers. They're probably not all that essential, though, and seem to be a bit tougher to find than the earlier issues.

You seem to have all the relevant "Marvel Preview/Bizarre Adventures" issues, #3 (Blade), 7 (Satana), 8 (Legion of Monsters), 12 (Haunt of Horror), 16 (Masters of Terror). I also have the Bizarre Adventures issues, but wasn't convinced I wanted to include them, as they seemed different in tone to me from the other mags, having been crafted many years after the B&W Marvel Monster boom. Ditto the B&W Tomb of Dracula mag.

I myself would probably opt to bundle Haunt of Horror #1-5, Legion of Monsters #1, Masters of Terror #1 &2, and Marvel Preview/Bizarre Adventures #3,7,8,12, and 16. That would create a "miscellaneous" volume about equal in size to the other 4 main volumes, and solve the problem of where to place certain mags.

Are you planning to have DPBanks do the binding? I'd be interested to see the results when they're finished, so I can get an idea what mine would look like. Are you leaning towards specific colors for each volume, or are you going to do them all in the same color? I was thinking BLACK for Dracula Lives, GREEN for Monsters Unleashed, RED for Vampire Tales, WHITE for Tales of the Zombie, and was undecided on the Haunt of Horror/Miscellaneous volume, maybe BROWN. Whatever you decide, be sure to keep us updated!
