There's a Classic X-Men backup that takes place circa UXM #100. I would start off with this one.

Then they fight during the Mutant Massacre, UXM #215, give or take an issue. This was actually the first published encounter between the two, published in 1986.

I believe they fought as parts of X-Men vs Marauders battles a couple of times between Mutant Massacre and Inferno. #221ish in San Francisco comes to mind, but nothing big there. Skippable as far as I recall.

Wolverine #9 or #10 (one or the other) established that Sabretooth stalking Wolverine annually is a tradition for them. I think this issue might also have created Silver Fox and established that Sabretooth killed her.

Hama and Silvestri had Logan and Creed clashing in a few-issue arc around Wolverine #40-46ish. Good stuff.

X-Men (vol.2) #4-7 establishes the black ops team where Logan, Creed, Maverick and others worked together during the Cold War.

Hama and Texeira revisit the black ops team with an arc around Wolverine #58-62 or so, immediately after Mariko's death arc. This arc is also notable for a rare living, breathing Silver Fox appearance.

Wolverine #90 has Wolverine facing off against Sabretooth without his adamantium skeleton.

Then there's the arc around Wolverine #126-128 or so where Sabretooth gets the adamantium.

I'll have to quit here because I went on a hiatus around this time. Anybody fill in the rest?
