I'm officially more excited for the Deadly Hands volumes than the MoKF. I love the black and white magazines, but have not had the resources to dive into this series. They are tough to find in the first place, and are a little more expensive per issue than, say, Rampaging Hulk.
Not only that, but my experience when I was pulling together my collection of Marvel b&w's was that for some reason people are more lenient when grading those than they are the color comics.  I think that the paper quality for the b&w mags was even worse than the regular comics, and it aged to tan (or worse) much faster.  True NM copies should have a fairly off-white color, not tan or darker, and there are probably very few copies in existence that meet that criterion.  I didn't fully appreciate that until I lucked into a couple of issues that really were true NM and was amazed at what the paper was really supposed to look like.

You are so right. Back cover torn in half? VG+. Like you, when the mint/unread copies come through its a really delightful surprise. Even a mildly rolled spine with bright pages is nice. I always kept a very low dollar per issue cap on what I spent on these in part due to unreliable grading. I'm not super into condition, but the book needs to be intact, not have water damage and rips, and no mold please.
