Cory, no offense to the artist that was chosen for the new cover, but can you elaborate on why a specific artist is contacted to do a new Omnibus cover? Like it's understandable why Fantastic Four Omnibus 2 got an Alex Ross cover since the King is no longer among us, but for Master of Kung Fu were Jim Starlin or perhaps Paul Gulacy not commercial enough or some other reason? Just curious how these things get decided.
I have to say, this is something I have wondered about also.  Is the premise that there are people who might buy this volume if it features a cover by a modern artist, but would not buy it if it has a cover by an older artist?  I'm hardly an expert on the market, but that seems unlikely to me.  I would think that anyone who buys this book is doing so entirely for what is between the covers, and would do so regardless of what's actually on the cover.  But I would also think that anyone who buys this book would prefer to have a new cover done by one of the artists represented inside the book (Starlin, Gulacy, or Zeck) rather than by someone who has no connection to the character or material.  So I'm puzzled as to why a modern artist was chosen for this job, when several of the original artists are available.  I should stress that I do not mean this comment as a criticism of Cory or a complaint about this particular book (which I'm elated to see published under any cover).  I'm just curious as to why this decision (modern artist cover on book of classic old material) is so often made.
