I can't believe that anybody remotely connected to comics/film/geek culture hasn't heard about this, but on the off chance, we're now a little over halfway through a Kickstarter campaign started by Joel Hodgson to bring back MST3K. It will have an entirely new cast, but Joel will be working behind the scenes, and he's made it clear that all of the old cast members will be invited to participate and/or make cameos once the contracts are nailed down. Today it was announced that one of the new cast members will be Patton Oswalt, playing "TV's Son of TV's Frank."

The initial goal was 2 million dollars for three new episodes, with an ultimate goal of 5.5 million to make a full twelve-episode season. Within the next few hours the campaign should pass 3.3 million, which will assure at least six new episodes. The hope is that the campaign and the new episodes together will convince some network and/or online platform to order still more. If you haven't heard of the campaign, or you've been on the fence, I urge you to kick in a few bucks. There are a ton of great rewards, with more to come. Joel has even hinted that the very first KTMA episodes of the show, which have never been seen by fans, might be released! In other news, tomorrow (12/1) sees the release from Shout! of Volume XXXIV of the DVDs, including some episodes that were never expected to be released, like "War of the Colossal Beast." Shout! actually now owns the show, which means the DVD sets should keep coming and there's an excellent chance of getting the entire series. There are now only about 30 episodes that have never seen a release. In other words, it's a great time to be a MSTie!

Now available at Amazon for the Kindle: my crime novel FIVE MILLION DOLLARS AND THE GREEN-EYED GIRL.  Enjoy, won't you?
