Thanks! I am actually looking for reading these issues quite a bit... How about issues 52-70? I never heard anything about that period... Lots of change in the art department during the issues before Zeck and Day went on board?
The regular artist was supposed to be Jim Craig, but he had problems with deadlines that resulted in a pile of fill-in issues and the occasional reprint which really disrupted the flow of the stories (since tight issue-to-issue continuity was a big part of the series).  The deadline problems with the pencils also resulted in them assigning John Tartaglione as inker... he was one of those old pros who could hack work out quickly, but it wasn't very good work.  The art is unfortunately an inconsistent mess over this period of the series.

Zeck finally became the regular artist with issue #67 (he had been one of several fill-in artists for Craig in prior issues) but his first few issues were wrapping up a storyline begun by Moench and Craig.  Issue #71 is where a new storyline begins and that's generally considered the beginning of the classic Moench/Zeck run.  And then with issue #76 Gene Day comes aboard as inker.

Nice!! Thanks. Good to know. That means volume 2 will probably have the highest point over the whole series (38-51), and the lowest (52-70)... Ah well, I still want it!!
