I just stumbled on this old thread, so I thought I'd add something I've noticed...

Those people in shopping malls who stop you and want you to buy or sign up for something are in greater numbers than ever, but I find I sometimes get past them uninterrupted because they are too busy operating their smartphones. What must their employers think?

And only recently, I entered a store that employed a teenage girl to meet and greet customers. Now, I'm used to being ignored by young women, but this one didn't even look up from her phone as I and other customers walked by.
