Captain Universe is clearly inspired by Ditko (with a hint of Starlin, who was deeply indebted to Ditko), as are some of the pyrotechnics. Dikto would actually illustrate some of Captain Universe's adventures in the relaunched Marvel Spotlight.
The bulkier figures are, however, reminiscent of Kirby and kind of hark back to the iconic cover of Thor #127, but Kirby didn't have the patent on bulky figure. That is, however, unmistakably Kirby Kosmik Krackle korruskating off Karza's clenched fist. Karza was pretty much another Doc Doom/Darkseid clone too.
To be honest, I always thought that the (alleged) Kirby influence on Golden's Micronauts was pure hype, but his style does change quite noticeably half way through his run. The work becomes less claustrophic and opens up, becoming more dynamic.
