I bought them all until they did the unthinkable and leaped years ahead out of the SA and into the BA with those first Uncanny X-Men volumes
Well, that happened with Volume 11, so you must have bailed out of the completist mode very quickly.

I get every volume, even if I have the floppies.  I'm spoiled by the upgraded printing relative to the original newsprint.

Didn't 'Muu once say that he gets a copy of each volume, including variant and s&b, and that he does so for each printing?

That I did - and to add insult to injury they followed up with a second Uncanny volume as #12 - argh!

You've been an old grouch for a long long time!  Emot_old

(translation:  "I was a completist until they published something that I didn't like which means I was never really a completist."

Of course I was not going to purchase something I did not like - certainly not for the sake of being a "completist"

But more to the point:  my objection to them including Uncanny X-Men so soon was that it was way to early to be dipping into the BA when so much of the foundation of Marvel had not been touched - Thor, Iron Man, Dare Devil, Dr. Strange, Silver Surfer, Sub-Mariner, Ant Man, etc., etc.

As stated on the back of the first volume - "In celebration of our 25th Anniversary, Marvel Comics proudly presents a series of hardcover reproductions of the creme de la creme of our early days."

The Uncanny X-Men was not this.
