Steranko is my personal "over rated" based off the small work I have sampled.

If you guys asked me 10-12 years ago I would have said Jack Kirby. More or less due to the fact I was a naive teenager that just didn't get it yet.

My first sampling of Kirby was through the mighty Thor masterworks. At the time I was so enthralled by Miller and Bendis' Ultimate universe that I never attempted to start from the very beginning of Marvel's true origins up until that point.

My first thoughts on the material were "Boy this stuff sucks." What were these guys online talking about. This Kirby guy is awful awful awful.

But despite all this I plowed ahead with my reading of early Marvel and there came a point in time when I JUST STARTED TO GET IT. Something clicked as I continued and I began to realize the true genius that is Jack. His storytelling flowed from panel to panel and I could FEEL the impact of each punch, kick or explosion.

Even now his Cap/Batroc thrown down is my all time favorite comic book page. Just awesome stuff.

In that point of time I began to also realize how dreadful of a rehash a lot of the Ultimate universe is and it began to transform my logic in comic reading.

To this day, I'm almost 30, I prefer older Marvel to newer Marvel 9 out of 10 times.
