I personally liked the Ant-Man/Giant-Man and Human Torch volumes, but I admit they are not for everyone.  I guess my tolerance for goofiness is pretty high in superhero comics (though not without limits), and those books stayed within bounds.  I also like these books for the large number of minor original villains introduced who have had a fair amount of staying power (e.g. Wizard, Trapster, Whirlwind).

I absolutely hated the Roy Thomas-Werner Roth X-Men, though, and thought the Neal Adams period was only okay (vastly superior in relative terms, but not so great on the merits).

Addendum: I read the entire RT-WR run anyway because of my obsession with continuity, but it was kind of like going to the dentist.
I like the Ant-Man/Giant-Man and Human Torch volumes, also.  Probably not if they were full story issues.  Tales of the Wasp were great.  Who wouldn't like "Somewhere Waits a Wobbow!"?  Geez.  The Thomas/Roth X-Men were pretty bad.  Issue 30 with the Warlock(earlier Merlin the Magician from JIM #96) ties with Thor(JIM) #90 "Carbon-Copy Man"  as the worst of Marvel's silver-age in story and art IMO.
